Jason Gillette began
playing the saxophone at age seven in Chicago, Illinois. After
many incredible influences from numerous band directors, Jason
pursued a degree in Music Education from the University of
Wisconsin – Eau Claire. After graduating from UWEC in 1996, he
was hired as Director of Bands at
Brookfield Central High School, where he has been teaching
for the past twelve years. He has enjoyed the building process
of a band program which consisted of 83 students in 1996, to a
current program of approximately 200 students. Jason was named
the School District of Elmbrook’s “Outstanding Employee” in 2004
and was also named “Music Teacher of the Year” by WJZI’s Jazz
Radio Station in 2006. He has also been listed in the national
publication “Who’s Who in Education” for the past twelve years.
Jason currently directs the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz
Ensemble I, Jazz Ensemble II, Marching Band, Pit Orchestra, and
Pep Band. The BCHS Bands have performed in London, New Orleans,
Los Angeles, Dallas, and Orlando in recent years. |

In
addition to Jason’s love for teaching, he has also performed as
a woodwind artist with a wide variety of musical artists in
recent years, including the following: Josh Grobin, Kurt Elling,
Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Manhattan Transfer, The Four
Tops, Three Dog Night, Martha Reeves, and Don Rickles.
Currently, Jason is working on a video project with R+B singer,
Eric Bonet for a BET national broadcast. Locally, Mr. Gillette
performs lead alto with “The All-Star Milwaukee SUPERband” every
Thursday night at Libiamo Restaurant in Milwaukee. Jason also
conducts clinics for local colleges and high schools. |
Jason is proudest of his wonderful wife Nicole (who is
also a music educator) and his beautiful one and a half year old
daughter – Sarah.
