Jason Gillette began playing the saxophone at age seven in Chicago, Illinois.  After many incredible influences from numerous band directors, Jason pursued a degree in Music Education from the University of Wisconsin – Eau Claire.  After graduating from UWEC in 1996, he was hired as Director of Bands at  Brookfield Central High School, where he has been teaching for the past twelve years.  He has enjoyed the building process of a band program which consisted of 83 students in 1996, to a current program of approximately 200 students.  Jason was named the School District of Elmbrook’s “Outstanding Employee” in 2004 and was also named “Music Teacher of the Year” by WJZI’s Jazz Radio Station in 2006.  He has also been listed in the national publication “Who’s Who in Education” for the past twelve years.  Jason currently directs the Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, Jazz Ensemble I, Jazz Ensemble II, Marching Band, Pit Orchestra, and Pep Band.  The BCHS Bands have performed in London, New Orleans, Los Angeles, Dallas, and Orlando in recent years.

In addition to Jason’s love for teaching, he has also performed as a woodwind artist with a wide variety of musical artists in recent years, including the following: Josh Grobin, Kurt Elling, Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Manhattan Transfer, The Four Tops, Three Dog Night, Martha Reeves, and Don Rickles.  Currently, Jason is working on a video project with R+B singer, Eric Bonet for a BET national broadcast.  Locally, Mr. Gillette performs lead alto with “The All-Star Milwaukee SUPERband” every Thursday night at Libiamo Restaurant in Milwaukee.  Jason also conducts clinics for local colleges and high schools.

Jason is proudest of his wonderful wife Nicole (who is also a music educator) and his beautiful one and a half year old daughter – Sarah.
